My husband and I live in Ohio as well and he was in nursing school. Our local hospital has something called a PCA which is a patient care assistant. You basically assist the nurses. He also used to work at Akron Children’s Hospital for awhile and he was able to be a MA (medical assistant). You will also find that working for a medical facility while in school, they also tend to help financially. I’ve only heard of STNAs in the nursing home perspective, so I don’t know too much about that title. I hope this helps.

Assley. love your name. You can be a CNA but it may interfere with your nursing classes. Your classes will get even harder so you may or may not have time for a job. I’m on my 3rd year and its tough trying to work and retain information. It might be better to concentrate on nursing school because your almost there. If you do work as a CNA you might consider working part time. A CNA class might take 6 to 7 months or you can probably bypass that and take the test you can find the information at local schools in your community. Good Luck on nursing.

My daughter, once she completed a couple semesters of her BSN program in Ohio worked as a Home health aide for a business. Also then became employed at a hospital as a nursing assistant ( I believe it was a nursing extern job). She got alot of experience at both jobs and it opened doors to her for post-grad. employment.
