To abuse anybody is beyond me but an elderly person is unforgivable. I’ve been working in a nursing home for three years now and it breaks my heart to watch this. I would like to say that I wish there is more awareness of the abuse staff have to take while caring for these people. It’s not uncommon for residents to physically, emotionally and sexually abuse staff on a daily basis. I don’t think some people understand that health care providers are putting themselves at risk everyday.

Outright ABUSE . I have uploaded several videos on my channel in regards to my daughter being abused in a long term care facility . As recent as last month she was Hospitalized with sever pain and bruising BUT was discharged Back into the Care of the very Facility that Abused her .
The police say there is no evidence to proceed with an investigation .
Protection services are of no use here because they are the Affiliated with these Care Facilities. Thanks for the Video & Peace.

personally I just take my mute elderly mom out once a day & park her downtown by the bank or liquor store with a sign that says “homeless, spare change please”. By the end of the day when I retrieve her there’s about $50 or $60 in the hat! Of course there’s the risk someone will see the “homeless” part & have her institutionalized, but that’s a win win situation, a retirement home for free. They can’t trace her back to family ’cause I make sure she doesn’t have any ID on her. I reccomend it!

The horiffic stories in this report are our future if we don’t do something to clean up nursing homes and hold them accountable.
We will all be vulnerable at some time of our life.
Visit the National Association to STOP Guardian Abuse to learn of another form of abuse of the elderly and vulnerable.

You’re right that a daycare would be easier, and that is because the kids don’t know any better. But just because many of these elders are sick, does not mean they are crazed. Many of them are competent enough to feel like they have been abandoned by their family, left to be treated like a child. Many of them have seen and experienced more than we can imagine, yet very few of us seek to actually talk with them. Nursing homes must be set to a higher standard because it is their job.

It may be frustrating for those who work in nursing homes, but they have a job. Their job is to protect, respect and care for the loved ones of the families who put them there. If an elderly person is acting up they should be reasoned with. If they cannot be reasoned with then they should be put in a “time out”. Following that, however, they should be talked with. These people once lived the lives we lived and they have had that taken away from them, of course they’re going to act up.

Well, Now I think that working in a nursing home would be very difficult (I couldn’t do it). You can place an elderly person against the wall for timeout, rather than beat them when they misbehave. This would prevent abuse of them. Daycare will be easy for me in the future because children are much more behaved than those elderly people in nursing homes, so therefore, you would never have to worry about punishing if you work in a darcare center because children are much more behaved.

This is absolutely horrible. If I ever heard of this happening to any one of my family, there would be blood.

You are a very cold hearted person to say that somebody should be beat. Your comments should stay, people should know how heartless you are. I’m sorry it took a bad event to make you start feeling what normal humans feel, but consider this your “beating”

Please remove my comments that agree with the abuse of elderly. I am so sorry for those comments, but I just had a bad thing happen in my life. So I now feel sorry for old people when they get abused.

I agree children are worthier than elderly. But, that doesn’t mean they should be neglected on their care. Whatever our society created, we should look after them, such as drug addicts and mentally disable or ill patients as well as children and elderly.

I **** old senior citizens. I wish that people would spend more of their time trying to help children who don’t have a home because they are much more important to worry about than those study old fugly senior citizens.

I think u are ignorant as hell. Many people over the age of 75 have dimentia and other forms of deterioration of cognitive abilities. They shoud be treated with respect and dignity.

If some men are over the age of 90, they should have STRICT PUNISHMENT for acting up. They should have a beating with a belt, they should be handcuffed to their bed, and locked in their resthome room bathroom. IMPORTANT: DON’T EVER TREAT A CHILD LIKE THAT. BABIES, TODDLERS, AND CHILDREN DESERVE RESPECT BECAUSE THEY ARE REALLY YOUNG.

The state is partially responsible for this growing problem. Staffing ratios and matrix are standardized by the state and their minimal requirement is not adequate for quality nursing care to be delivered. If they set a higher minimal requirement, administrators would have to comply. The problem now is the industry puts more importance on money than the people they care for or their staff. Most nursing home employees work in an oppressive environment that manifests at the patient’s bedside.

I worked as a CNA for 4ys and left due to the B.S. involved in Nursing. Our facility was always understaffed, underpaid, overworked. Our charge nurses were prejudice and would write up their Navajo aides in a heartbeat.Even still I outlasted many Nurses,Cna’s,3 administrators, and 4 DON’s, after 4 yrs I had the most sinority of the CNA’s, yet was making only $8.50 per hr.I’ve lost all compassion for the Long term care industry and know it will get worse.

This isn’t only happening in the U.S its happening in Canada too. The understaffing is a major problem here.
As for abusing residants/seniors, I have a zero tolerance for that. I dare that nurse hurt someone so vunerable. Hasn’t she ever heard of gentle care. Go work at a jail.
What a sad story.
Make me sick to my stomache.

This place should have been put out of business and the aide that did this should have been put in jail, not allowed to keep working with other elderly victims. The public really needs to know, before it happens to their family member. Think it can’t happen to you. Think again.

The place probably made an offer, and the whole thing was probably so painful for the family, they just took it to try to alleviate their suffering. But, if I was in the families shoes, I would NEVER sign a confidentialitly agreement. I’ve worked in a Nursing Home, most of the aides are unkind and uncaring to the residents, some of them are satanic. I left the field because I could no longer bear all the abuse I witnessed.

As someone with professional experience of working with Health Authority Nursing Home/Residential Home monitoring groups, what i would question here is why ‘Judy’settled out of court. The only way abuses of these kinds will lessen is if relatives seek the due process of the courts to put such places out of business and offenders behind bars. Why does this facility have the option anyway to settle as opposed to face a jury? Outrageous.
