How can I stick my mom in a nursing home so I can finally move upstairs?

January 31st, 2010 | by nursing |
Frankie B asked:

I am 45 years old and tired of living in the basement. My mom is too old and no longer can do my laundry or cook for me and my friends when they come over. How can I legally stick her in a nursing home so I can take the house over and move upstairs. There is no mortgage so don’t worry about my expenses.

Answers form lawyers will be good. Thank you in advance.

    I agree completely with ingredient6.

First of all, you are 45 and living in your mother’s basement?

Second, you expect her at an old age to cook for you and your friends and do your laundry?

She was the one who took care of you, and now you’re treating her as if she is the scum of the earth. Huh.

Why don’t you just move to the nursing home yourself and have all of them do that for you, slick?

I pity your poor mother. Bless her heart.

    Did I read this right?

You’re “tired of living in the basement.”

Be glad you have a place to live, even if it’s in the basement. No shame in that. There are homeless people walking the streets, who wish they could live in a home, much less a basement. But wait-at 45, why are you still living at home…?

Your “mom is too old and no longer can do your laundry or cook for you and your friends when they come over?” Your mother has provided for you all these years - what’s wrong with doing all of the above yourself?

Now since she’s unable to do those things, you want to “legally” stick her in a nursing home so you can ‘take the house over?’ That’s your way of thanking her for raising you and putting a roof over your head? I think it’s underhanded. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but unless you name’s on the deed, all bets are off.

No mortgage? Good for you. How about property taxes, home insurance and other expenses in running a house?

Be Very Careful-Fate has a very strange way of dealing her cards. You are actually talking about putting your mother, who put a roof over your head, food on the table and clothes on your back, who cared for you in sickness and in health, out of her house so you can ‘move upstairs’ for your convenience. Selfish motive. Your plan may not go the way you think.

    I hope you’re joking…. that’s mean.
45yrs old and still living with mama eh? Get up off your fat behind and go learn how to cook and do your OWN laundry/ Then go find your OWN place to live…maybe then you wont be so tired. I think you’re just a lazy 45yr old boy.
