I can’t wait to get in a nursing home. What is the age minimum? There is so much ***** in nursing homes and it is easily accessed. No dates or stupid games. I’ll walk the halls at night and while they are asleep (or awake), I’ll flip them over and plow their dried up, tight, ancient, hairy holes of horrors. I can’t fucking wait! I have a *****. I think it’s time to visit grandma.

I need a voice. it’s so frustrating to go to unit managers, DON, administrator, and/or the state. As tophet120 mentioned, the system just don’t care! I’m not sure why complaints are not addressed, is it because of the size of the problem, the bottom line, or easier to do nothing. What ever the reason it, it’s time something gets done. Something needs to be done.

I have practiced nursing for nearly 10 years and most of it was in nursing homes. I am so done with nursing homes. I can give countless incidences of abuse, neglect, badmouthing, mishandling of the residents. unfortunately for me working was not just a job, it was a passion. I’ve fallen in love with most of my residents, as a result i became traumatized by the mistreatment they recieved and the system that fails them. I will be going back to school, because I need a voice. i need to be….

My father is in a VA nursing home. It’s a stinking rotten **** hole of a place. Much like a mental hospital.
It’s very sad how we treat our elderly. Our great county is finished. We have killed a million people in Iraq, half were children. The numbers are staggering.
What can we do? Thank you for trying to expose these evil people.
Sadly we are the evil ones.

so often good staff are hindered from doing the job they want to do by the corporate parents of these homes cutting budgets so there isn’t enough staff to serve the patients. i do the marketing for The Garcia Law Firm on the west coast and after doing (and winning) hundreds of elder abuse cases, he now does class actions against these companies that put profits before people. These cases force change because if they don’t change, they must go back to court and pay more penalties.

tophet120, I’m so sorry about your grandmother. My heart goes out to you. You did everything in your power for your grandmother. I’ve seen what you’re describing many times and it rips your heart out. May your Grandmother be experiencing untold Joy right at this moment. May time help heal your family give you peace.

Unfortunately most people aren’t willing to do what is required to sustain their parents. It’s like caring for a grown baby in a lot of cases (feeding, changing their incontinence pad, wiping their **** etc). And they don’t have a nurses available at any time.

I am glad my parents did not die in a nursing home. My mother died at home in her own bed and we were there as a family. I had to put aside some time for her and there were no regrets on my part. Sure our home is not like a hotel like most nursing homes brag to be, but I am sure that I would resent anyone taking care of my mom and be critical of how she moves and cares for her anyway, no matter how good she may be.

Home is the best place to care for the elderly. There can never be a nursing home that would match anybody’s home and the care they receive from their own families because no matter what, they are their own families and the care they provide takes its own meaning to their grandparents.

I think it is best to be sure that the sick or elder be left living in there home, I bet most want to live in there homes, not a business nursing home, but some that require round the clock medical care, can be a difficult choice to make, it should depend on the health of them, and is a nursing home the only solution?. Thank you for posting.

From experience… Family members know a good aide when they see one. Some people are demanding yes, but most people know when they have a good aide or not, it isnt that hard to pick up on that.

Give me a break! If you have a good heart, you have a good heart, nothing should change that. If you work in a good home, good for you, but most nursing homes are hell on earth, and the staff is a major part of that. People who care arent going to turn into uncaring souls because other people ‘typecast’ them….

Before you haters even start about us having her in a nursing home..My Nana had a lot of her leg removed due to improper cleaning of the wound by PROFESSIONAL NURSES.We were there day and night caring for her until the end, we are not the kind of family that tosses their loved one in a home and visits once a month like most people do. We cared for her and loved her 24 hours a day until the very end.Something needs to be done to save our elderly we as a society cant let this go on any longer!

I will hopefully be doing a follow video to this. My Grandmother passed away 9-9-08 in a nursing home. A nursing home where they improperly medicated her, a nursing home where she was treated like crap and even TEASED and MOCKED by staff. Any one who wants to argue my point that most nursing homes are hell on earth BRING IT ON BITCHES!!! Ive seen first hand YET AGAIN! I am not saying all homes are horrid…but lets face it most are!! Our nursing homes are KILLING our elderly!!!

I understand what you are saying. What you say is true! The abuse and neglect that goes on in those places is swept under the rug. You are right! It is a money game to those places. It is robbing the elderly of the money they worked so hard for all their lives. I have a high standard of caring for the elderly. My belief is that my grandparents and parents were always there for me. Now it is our time to truly take care of OUR elders. Wake up world this is happening under your noses.

I am not complaining about providing care, but I am also witness to residents abusing nurses’ aides, not to me but to my colleagues. They say bad words and hit them, and some aides just cry and cannot do anything. Yes, I am upset that families treat their own parents like trash. Some do not visit at all, and if they do, they could not even bear to hold them.

I don’t have to prove anything to you. The Director of Nursing talked to me about the letters they keep on receiving from residents whom I have helped, because some can still write even if they are plagued with diseases. And ye have to say that not allresidents are good people, just as not all aides are good, either. Some residents are miserable and they try to make other people miserable, too.
